New PS5 Shareable Links Enable Participants To Join Multiplayer Games Together Without Needing To Add Each Other As Friends On The Playstation Network

Sony has unveiled an upcoming PS5 capability that allows gamers to create and distribute shareable links, granting instant access to their multiplayer sessions for others, even without having a prior PSN connection.

Projected to launch within the next few months, Sony indicates that players will have the convenience to generate these invitation links directly via their PlayStation 5 hardware or through the PlayStation App. The produced link, which can be shared either as a URL or a scannable QR code, can be sent through various social and communication platforms.

Moreover, Sony is developing a Discord integration of this invitation system. A widget, once shared within Discord, will automatically update to display the current availability of the multiplayer session, providing potential joiners with up-to-date information.

According to Sony's communication, this novel link creation tool aims to enhance and work alongside the existing in-game mechanisms for joining a session on the PS5, which will be compatible across all supported PS5 games, bar a few exceptions that may require a patch for optimized function.

But there's more; Sony's vision extends to enabling link generation that directs straight to a user's PlayStation Network profile, thus streamlining processes like sending friend requests. This addition is also anticipated to be introduced in the foreseeable future.

Sony rounds off by expressing that these innovations are just a portion of their efforts to simplify connecting and playing with others online. The company is committed to continuous progress in this area and is open to community input. Sony invites gamers to share their thoughts and feedback on these developments.
